Towards a science-based testing strategy to identify maternal thyroid hormone imbalance and neurodevelopmental effects in the progeny—part III: how is substance-mediated thyroid hormone imbalance in pregnant/lactating rats or their progeny related to neurodevelopmental effects?

In a Nutshell

The third in a series of four reports by ECETOC’s Special Thyroxine Task Force, on developing a science-based EU testing strategy for maternal thyroid disruption, will be published in the medical journal Critical Reviews in Toxicology. The report evaluates which patterns of thyroid- and brain-related effects can be seen in rats resulting from gestational or lactational exposure to 14 substances that cause thyroid hormone imbalance.
