Understanding the impact of microplastics on human health and the environment requires the implementation of systematic, hypothesis-driven research. The International Council of Chemical Associations (ICCA) coordinates a global effort to develop a holistic approach to microplastic research bringing industry, academia, and government scientists together to increase our collective knowledge on the science to develop innovative solutions. To support this efforts, ICCA launched the Microplastics Advanced Research and Innovation Initiative or ‘MARII’ initiative to bring together researchers to facilitate the global exchange of information on microplastics. research, presentations, and current developments.
