ECETOC Secretary General

Founded in 1978, ECETOC is the foremost voice of chemical industry in Europe concerning health and environmental science. The activities of the association are dedicated to the development and promotion of top quality science in risk assessment of chemicals. To this end, a permanent secretariat coordinates the activities of industry experts in collaboration with government and academic scientists in task forces and workshops. The Secretary General is responsible for the execution of the strategy of the association, for the management of the secretariat and the work programmes adopted by the Scientific Committee. He/She is responsible to the board of management for the financial affairs of the association and to the assembly of members for the conduct of the science programme along with its promotion to external stakeholders in government, science and industry.

The ideal candidate would have excellent communication, collaboration and management skills, a higher degree qualification and experience that gives evidence of credibility of scientific accomplishments in areas which are relevant to the risk assessment of chemicals. Experience in a technical or government relations role in industry and/or the regulatory community would be an advantage, as would a working knowledge of the laws and regulations applicable to various types of chemicals in Europe (REACH, Pesticides, Biocides, Pharmaceuticals etc.). The candidate should have an innovative attitude that enables ECETOC to address current and future needs in a complex environment.

The position is based in Brussels and offers an attractive salary, benefits and relocation package.
