Job Vacancy: ECETOC is looking for an Environmental Scientist
The European Centre for Ecotoxicology & Toxicology of Chemicals (ECETOC) is seeking the services of a Brussels-based* graduate in environmental sciences to support ECETOC scientific activities in the area of environmental toxicity (*Note that any relocation costs will not be covered).
The appointment will be on a contractual basis estimated at about 20 working hours per week.
This position serves three key roles:
- Task Force coordinator: In this role he/she will coordinate and organise input from a task force of scientists to develop manuscripts and publications aimed at structuring scientific knowledge to advance risk assessment practices.
- Organising workshops and conferences: He/she will work with ECETOC Scientific committee and secretary general to organise, complete and report ECETOC workshops and meetings supporting ECETOC programmes and initiatives.
- Assist CEFIC Long Range research Initiative (LRI) by working with scientists to develop research proposals, selecting research projects and monitoring the progression of the research to finalisation.
Profile
A degree or Ph.D. in environmental sciences. While a science background is necessary major attributes are:
- Very strong Project Management skills
- Organisational skills – both working in a team and independently
- Diplomacy – getting work done through others
- Self-motivation
- Good communication – written and oral
- Attention to detail
- Friendly personality and disposition
- Positive outlook with problem solving mentality
- Fluent English a must, French and/or German an advantage
Salary is commensurate with knowledge and experience.
