Closing ceremony of the International Year of Chemistry IYC 2011

IYC2011 closing ceremony
The UN International Year of Chemistry (IYC) 2011, decreed by the UN General Assembly under the auspices of UNESCO and of the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) has encountered a worldwide success on this anniversary year of the Nobel Prize in Chemistry awarded to Marie Curie. The enthusiasm of youth, teachers, researchers, the contribution of industries and the public's interest are contributing to creating an international awareness of the importance of chemistry and its vital contribution to the well-being of humankind.

In Brussels, on December 1st will be held the Closing ceremony of the International Year of Chemistry. The IYC closing ceremony will emphasize the creativity and the potential of Chemistry to address the challenges facing our societies. High level speakers and young leaders will explore and debate how chemistry is vital for solving our most critical global problems including food, water, health, energy, habitat, and more.
