In a Nutshell

The second in a series of four reports by ECETOC’s Special Thyroxine Task Force, on developing a science-based EU testing strategy for maternal thyroid disruption, has just been published in the medical journal Critical Reviews in Toxicology. The report evaluates how different chemicals may have harmful effects on the thyroid gland – and possibly cause impaired brain development – as well as how that could be addressed in toxicological tests on both humans and rodents.
