HSSD Tool

This software was developed by a consortium of partners to facilitate the uptake of novel approaches to estimate aquatic threshold concentrations (e.g. the concentration at which 5% of the species are exposed above their EC50, HC5).

NanoApp

ECETOC’s NanoApp is a tool designed to define the boundaries of sets of similar nanoforms and to generate a justification for the REACH registration.

Estimating the environmental release of Synthetic Polymeric Microparticles from Products

Why?REACH restriction: SPM use restricted; emissions reporting required by May 2027. Gap: No analytical methods available to measure SPM emissions. Solution: Draft SPERC-based approac...

The Role of Epigenetics in Reproductive Toxicity

Objectives of the workshop

The workshop has the following four objectives:
1.    Define epigenetics and understand its potential value for reproductive toxicology.
2.    Understand the relationship between epigenetic change and adverse end points.
3.    Develop a roadmap for the practical use of epigenetic studies in regulatory applications.
4.    Generate a prioritised research agenda.

A Workshop Report will be developed and it is anticipated to publish the workshop findings in an open access, peer-reviewed journal.

Background

Building on the success of an earlier ECETOC workshop in December 2011: Epigenetics and Chemical Safety this follow-on workshop will explore further developments in the understanding of epigenetics in chemical safety and the impact of epigenetics in toxicology now and in the future. In particular, a key outcome of the workshop will be to generate a prioritised research agenda to help answer key questions on the role and value of epigenetics in toxicology and chemicals risk assessment.

Structure

Day 1 – open to all ECETOC member companies and invited guests as a capacity-building activity, consists of a series of talks and case studies with room for questions, focussing on:

(i) Defining epigenetics and understanding its potential value for reproductive toxicology

(ii) Understanding the relationship between epigenetic change and adverse end points.

Day 2 – open to invited experts only as a brainstorming activity, consists of syndicate sessions/break-out groups in which groups will:

(i) Start developing a roadmap for the practical use of epigenetic foundational studies to underpin regulatory applications

(ii) Start generating a research agenda to address key gaps and questions identified during the workshop.

Please note that participation at this event is based on expertise and is by invitation only.
