? The editors of this special issue introduce the 8 papers on risk assessment of endocrine disrupting chemicals, for both human health and the environment.
? Endocrine disruption is a mode of action, not an end-point of toxicity.
? The development of the ECETOC approach to endocrine disrupting chemicals is described.
? There are no scientific reasons why the risk of endocrine disrupting chemicals should be assessed differently compared to other chemicals that have a threshold.
